Jessica Alba isn’t comfortable with being regarded as a sex symbol because she hates being singled out for her looks.
The ‘Machete’ actress who has previously been voted the sexiest woman in the world isn’t comfortable being singled out because of her appearance and would rather receive praise for her acting ability.
She said: “This whole sex goddess thing? Half the time I don’t even know what that means. It sounds beyond me. Way beyond me.
“I don’t put myself out there to get that kind of attention. When I do, it’s flattering, but it’s not what I set out to do. I just want to be in movies and I really don’t see myself like this.
“I don’t specially celebrate it but I’m grateful about it. And when I go home I wash it all away. I need to find time to be myself and not to be only a personality part of the business.”
As well as not considering herself sexy, Jessica, 29, regards herself as just a “simple” woman from the suburbs.

Hollywood actress Jessica Alba insisted on having the script of Machete rewritten before agreeing to appear in the movie. Reason? It had an overdose of sex.
The 29-year-old stars alongside Denny Trejo, Lindsay Lohan and Robert De Niro in the film, which is directed by Robert Rodriguez.
“You think this version is sexy? In the original script, I played twins and there was a lot more sex,” contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.
“But I’ve never been very comfortable with that stuff. I get freaked out and nervous, I guess. So I told Robert Rodriguez, ‘This is an awesome movie and I’d love to be a part of it but I don’t feel comfortable doing that’, and he was like, ‘Oh, we’ll rewrite it and we’ll do what you are comfortable with’,” she said.
Once the Machete script was altered, Jessica was happy to take the role in the film — about a man who goes on a brutal rampage against a former boss

Machete star Jessica Alba has revealed that she hit such a career low a few years ago that she ‘really hated’ her job and “wanted to stop acting’.
In an interview with US Elle, the 29-year-old actress said she hit an all-time low after a string of bad movies, blaming ‘first-time directors’.

Jessica Alba 'freaked' by nude scenes

Jessica Alba was "nervous" about doing nude scenes in her new film Machete.
The stunning 29-year-old actress has several sex scenes and a revealing shower sequence in the film, about an assassin who is set up by his employers and sets out to seek his revenge.
Jessica, a mother-of-one, told one of the directors Robert Rodriguez, that she "wasn't comfortable" with stripping off, and so the underwear she wore while shooting was digitally removed afterwards.
"But I've never been very comfortable with that stuff. I get freaked out and nervous, I guess, so I told Robert, 'This is an awesome movie and I'd love to be a part of it but I don't feel comfortable doing that', and he was like, 'Oh, we'll rewrite it and we'll do what you are comfortable with'," she told British newspaper The Independent.
However, the star has admitted that becoming a mother has allowed her to unleash her wilder side.
Jessica - who is married to Cash Warren - revealed that once her two-year-old daughter Honor is in bed she throws parties at home and lets loose with her friends.
"I think I'm actually a little more wild and free since I've had her because, once she's in bed, all my mom friends, we get together and have dance parties at the house," she confessed. "It sounds really dorky but it's true. It's certainly something I wouldn't have done before."
